SignedUp Skills is proud to sponsor the Institute of Economic Development (IED) Annual Conference 2019. The conference is expected to attract over 200 sector leaders and professionals and will take place at BMA House in London on Wednesday 4th December 2019.
Titled ‘The Challenge of Change – economic strategies for a new era,’ delegates will have the opportunity to explore the pressing topics affecting the future of economic development and how best to tackle them to create sustainable economic growth.
“With output, growth and inclusion varying enormously across the UK, and the gaps rising, it has never been more important to address the country’s inequalities – and to plot a more coherent, inclusive strategy for the post-Brexit era.” IED on The Challenge of Change
Representatives from SignedUp Skills will be at the conference to meet with delegates and discuss these relevant issues. This is a growth area for SignedUp because more and more regional and local economic development leaders are looking to innovative digital solutions to help solve some of their most complex problems.
The annual conference aims to address the current issues being faced and to plot a more coherent, inclusive strategy for developing the future economic landscape.
Expert speakers will address key topics under this theme, including:
- Growth vs sustainability
- Inclusive growth – how to create opportunities for all
- International trade and investment
- Local Industrial Strategies / Transport – grand schemes or more regional connections
- Wellness and place
In addition to an impressive line-up of keynote speakers who will be highlighting economic development focusing around place and communities, there is also a keynote panel discussion on ‘The future of underperforming towns’, featuring Professor Cathy Parker, Chair of the Institute of Place Management; Sir Howard Bernstein, Strategic Advisor at Deloitte and Chair and Patron of the IED; and Professor Henry Overman from LSE.
Head of SignedUp, Richard Graham comments, “This year’s focus, ‘The Challenge of Change – economic strategies for a new era’, aligns nicely with our ethos at PDMS. We have a long history of solving complex problems in economic development through effective software engineering solutions.”
The SignedUp team is looking forward to meeting experts from around the country and learning from other IED members. Economic development works best when people join forces to share key successes and learn from each other through knowledge sharing.
